While some Alternative organizations nowadays, are loosely using the word "Integrative Medicine" to simply join the current bandwagon, but used it as a vehicle to propagate their own brand of Alternative healing system. They have gone, even further by offering them as the core emphasis of their ND curriculum in the Naturopathic schools they operate. INTEGRATIVE NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE is a distinct primary health care system that blends the Wisdom of Nature with Modern Science. It focuses on whole patient care that emphasizes prevention and works with the body's natural self-healing capabilities through Naturopathic Solutions. INM doctors/physicians are committed to a mission of healing by finding the root Causes/underlying Causes of a patient's health problem (at more fundamental levels) by taking account of the whole person, including all aspects of lifestyle. The IM Physician's approach to patient care uses an Integrative Therapy (combination) but will focus on holistic and non-toxic therapies utilizing Clinical Nutrition, Botanical Medicine and other Evidence-Based Alternative therapies, with the end goal of eliminating or reducing the use of drugs the patient have been taking, at some later time (not at first Clinic visit) in the course of the therapy, as the case may be depending on patient's particular condition .
Similar to Allopathic training, Postgraduate Students enrolled in Conventional Integrative Naturopathic Program, learn the Medical practice of History Taking, Physical Examination and Clinical Assessment; similarly they also develops and Hone their skills in Differential Diagnosis; On the other hand,while they also study clinical Naturopathic Assessment and Diagnostic techniques, alongside they also master modern Laboratory tests and sophisticated diagnostic imaging tools and correlating these results with the patient's clinical presentation of signs and symptoms. Though different in medical paradigm and clinical approach with Conventional medical doctors, Integrative Medicine doctors aims to get to the root causes of the disease and is treating the "whole person" not just the symptoms.
